Has Technology Killed Album Sales?

As of late I began thinking when the last time was that I purchased an album, and I remembered buying Lil Jon & The Eastside Boys Put Yo Hood Up. Which was in 2001.Keep in mind I own well over 500 cd's, all of them burned. Which sprung the question, do people pay for music anymore or has the music business been over ran by ad dollars? What was the last album that you bought, and when? Do you think "burning" pirated music is okay? Get At Us

  1. I haven't paid for a CD or DVD in years. I don't think it's right, but neither is $17 or $25. If I could send the artist his $4 directly from the CD, or the $.35 from the download maybe i would. But I definitely don't mind getting over on an industry that has been getting over for 80 years. if i could get gas for $.50 a gallon or internet for $5 a month I would do that too.

  2. I've bought a few albums this year, but know where near my peak in 2002 - 2005 where I'd be buying between 3 -12 a week, alot of which were CDs I had owned on vinyl or cassette.
Only reason I don't buy as many now if lack of disposable income.

  3. I have been buying albums lately, but I have been on the internet hearing it first, before buying... If I know that the album's gonna be in my system for a long time, Im buying it... I stay true to buying Def Jux artists and some other independent labels, because I have a feeling that they recieve my money in the other end.. And in many cases, I get a little extra buying the albums.. But I remember the time before the internet, where I had to buy the records or else I wouldn't have a chance hearing it... But hten again, living in Denmark we only had a few albums dropping each month.. I remember buying Raising Hell and Pauls Butique.. I remember a winterday waiting to buy It takes a nation, only to get home to my friend and breaking the sealing, revealing the fresh and new rhymes..
I tend to sit down, plugging headphones in and relive the days of 3 feet high and rising, straight outta Compton and Paid in Full..
