There's not too much new shit that's released that finds it's way to my top list, but every once in awhile even I become suprised at some new music that is put out here fo instance we have an artist by the name Kid Cudi whom is signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label, the song is entitled "Day-n-Nite".... I'm not 100% sure if I like the song in whole or just the fact that it is very catchy, here it is for your enjoyment, let us know what you think. The album is split into 2 CDs One UK the other US, I personally would have mixed the whole, I’m not into the whole separation thing, I think there is a danger fans of one or the other scene will only ever listen to their preferred style country, and miss out on the great talent that’s on the other one.
One the whole I think this a great Mix CD that gives the listener a good idea of what good Hip Hop is on Both sides of the Pond.

More On The Jim Jones Incident

As more of this story comes to light, the more familiar (ish) it becomes, supposedly during the fiasco that occured at Club Esko local rapper Trick Trick was shot in the thigh, although Trick Trick denies this, there are reports from a local news affiliate that possibly confirm these reports. Hopefully later on tonight we will have a Serchlite tv exclusive featuring Trick that allow him personally respond to these allegations.

Jim Jones Popped.....But No Champaign?

Well, rumor has it that Mr. Jones was in town to do a "pop champaign party" at Club Esko here in Detroit, but around 2am as showtime approached somewhere around 20 people rushed the backdoor of the club and he was assaulted. Truthfully I myself would like to get all of the facts of this story straight before any much more is made of it, to once again try to tarnish the image of Detroit city itself in the hip-hop industry. The Scene In Cincinnatti: The Infamous Club Ritz

Lemme set the scene first and foremost. 10:30 p.m. A very comfortable 70 degree saturday night with a slight breeze..we pull up to what appears to be the jumpin'est spot in the city..Club Ritz. The homie Serch pulls up to the front (as usual), valet guy says..."you can't park here". GasFace tells him "I'm the sponsor of the event", and hands him a benny francis. We get out and precede into what seems to be the deadest spot next to the morgue. So me and Rich start gettin venue spots (by the way I'm also a cameraman for Nuvo Tv...hence my trip to Cin City for a Nuvo Event). The headliners for the party are Slimm Thugga, Pleasure P, Ron Browz, Mims, and Soulja Boy. So a couple hours go by, club starts to fill up, concert goes good, we hit the room...nites a nite right, all in a days work. What brings me to this blog was the Demo Cd's we accumulated during the show. I'm writing this solely on the assumption of this fact. We were working and these are the cd's we attained from the working rappers on the scene that nite. This is not a critique on the Cincinnatti music scene as a whole, just what we saw on our short trip there. On the way home we had a 4 and 1/2 hour ride, so what better to do than listen to the new music right? We pop in cd #1..which is titled YOUNG ZONE/ Produced By FAME (myspace.com/fame) track is called "FAT GOLD CHAIN"....WHACK WHACK WHACK..I got 10 g's says Detroits FAME would burn him in a battle!!!! Next cd DJ SKILLZ The Six O'Clock Mixtape (you can email him and get your copy...but why waste ur time its www.djskillz.com) Yeah you say "J why you goin on him like that?" I go like that because his CD was equally if not more WHACK then the above mentioned. I am getting a writers cramp, and will just list the rest because I dont wanna waste my time on the whackness the Nati had to offer: Boss Baines, J.O. Dom (he gave us 2 discs but they had the same songs in a different order and called it Part 1 And 2). All in all I found the Nati to be the most swagger jackinest, Gucci Mane Dick ridingest city I ever seen. The Downtown district was nice and clean tho. Oh yeah and to top it off shout out to the valet dude that got a frank and blocked us in the valet parking spot and was no where to be found when it was time to leave.

I can't front on Xtra P, In my opinion he is one of the few true triple threats in the game, by that I mean dope Producer, MC & Dee Jay. And after all the years in the game, Large Pro can still do damage on the mic. LP handed production on this track to French Producer Dela who steps up to the plate effortlessly with a laidback track with nice horn samples, wah wah sound effects and a lovely warm bass line. The track actually sounds like Large did it himself and would have fit nicely on his own long player "1st Class". If your a fan of real hip hop and your not feeling this then your not a fan of real hip hop.

NAS VS LIL WAYNE?

Today at work I walked into a conversation where the argument was over who the better MC was NAS or LIL WAYNE, now to me (a hip hop head) this was a no brainer, Nas obviously has more talent in his left nut than Wayne does in his whole body, but an argument is an argument so I sat back and listened to these 3 dudes talk about "Wayne has more swag" "Wayne sold amilli in a week" "Wayne is my second cousin's baby momma's brother", and as I listened I noticed the one person in the room who defended Nas (as if he needed it) say "Who will be relevant in 20 years?" which I thought long and hard about, duhh it will be Nas, not that Wayne will be forgotten but Nas is a fuckin legend (thank Serch for the find)and wayne is a rapper that has hyped people up sooooo much that even if his verse didnt make any sense whatsoever people would think there was a hidden meaning that was ingenius....it straight up gets under my skin!!! today I heard Fitty's new track "I Get It In", and it thought it was ahhh well alright, typical sing songish hook with Fif just mush mouthin' his way thru the bars like a 40 year old drunk fat guy on bar row during happy hour. What I did like was a drop I heard at the end of the track, here Fifty stated something along these lines "This is something my Grandfather always told me...U should never waste time talking to those worse of then you. What do they have to offer you? What can u learn from a mu**cka doing less than you, Only talk with people that can teach you something" Now that is not a direct quote, but pretty close. Do you agree with that statement? I dont really condone it because in my mindframe..it shouldnt be what they can do 4 you but rather what you can do for them (shout out to JFK), but holla at me, lemme know how you feel.
